D-III Senior All-Star Game named Don Hansen D-III Senior Bowl |

The event has been named the Don Hansen D-III Senior Bowl and will be played at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex on Monday (January 16), the national holiday in memory of Martin Luther King. |
| On Sunday evening (January 15) the recipients of the Butterfield Coaching Legend Award and Kentworthy SID Award will be honored at the D-III All-Star Awards Banquet, In addition awards will be presented to the D-III Conference Commissioner, D-III Conference Media Director, D-III Assistant Coaches for Offense and Defense as well D-III Grad Assistant Coaches for Offense and Defense of the Year. |
| Dennis Wilson, President of USA College Sports, Inc., who is serving his 21st term as President of the Metropolitan NY Football Writers Association and is a member of the Gagliardi Trophy Selection panel, is the Executive Director of the event. Phil Sokol, Director of Operations for The Sports Network, Dean Kenefick, Associate Athletic Director of Communications for Villanova University and Director of the Philadelphia College Football Writers Association, Kurt Svoboda, Assistant Director of Athletics at Harvard University and Director of the New England Football Writers Association and Thom Woodward of the Gagliardi Trophy are members of the Executive Board of USA College Sports, Inc. |
| Providing guidance and direction to insure the success of this project is a NCAA Division III Executive Board that includes commissioners, assistance commissioners and media relaations directors from the NCAA Division III conferences as well as several head coaches, including Wesley's Mike Drass. who guided the Wolverines to the Final Four of the 2010 national championship playoffs. |
| The original D-III Classic matched the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan All-Stars against the Philadelphia All-Stars who battled to a 12-12 deadlock. The second game took place at Hinchcliffe Stadium in Paterson, NJ where the East All-Stars were coached by Ithaca College's legendary Jim Butterfield while the head coach of the West All-Stars was Ron Schipper of Central (IA) who posted a career record of 287-67-3. Schipper was the recipient of the first Butterfield Award at the Awards Banquet and the first NFL D-III combine was run by the Giants. |
| Fayetteville, NC was next nd the tradition of playing on the Martin Luther King Weekend began and the kickoff was delayed 30 minute by a brief blizzard. Carolina conducted the NFL combine. |
| The next game was played in Shreveport, LA where he Black All-Stars rallied to topple the Red All-Stars 16-6 when for the first time in NCAA Division III football, all four major TV networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and the Fox Network) had television crews at the game. On Satrday night, the players marched in front of the largest crowd to ever watch an NCAA Division III football event when 400,000 spectarors at the Bosier City Crewe of Gemini Parade. The event was covered by the local CBS affiliate that was televised live with a three-minute side-bar on the All-Stars as they passed along the parade route escorting the six Royal Floats. Bryan Maher (Wisconsin-Whitewater) split the uprights with three field goals and an extra point while Jesse Ortiz (Lewis & Clark), who was voted the Outstanding Media Player, churned out a game-high 75 yards rushing, including a TD run of six yards at Rodney Dean Field on the campus of Evangel Academy. Taan Hall (Whittier) was named the Defensive Player of the Game and Mader earned the Special Team accolades and the Saints provided the NFL combine testing. |
| The next 10 games were played in Mexico as the event became the Aztec Bowl matching the Division III All-Stars against a Mexican All-Star team. |

| Players are required to submit a stipend of Four Hundred Dollars ($400) with their applications to assist in covering the operating expenses of the four-day event. It is urged that all players solicit a one-eighth (1/8) page sponsor advertisement to be published in the event's souvenir program plus the event web site at a fee of Four Hundred Dollars ($400). The stipend is to be payable to USA College Sports, Inc, and mailed with the media acceptance form to: P.O. Box 477, Roseland, NJ 07068 |
